A well known businessman and philanthropist, Scott Mead is the co-founder of a successful investment banking and asset management firm based in London, and a generous contributor to a variety of deserving causes.

Educational Advisory Positions

Over the last 10 years, Scott Mead has contributed a great deal of time and energy into educational institutions on both sides of the Atlantic. He is currently an advisory board member and has been chairman of the Board Strategy Working Group at Cambridge University’s Judge Business School. This group has helped the school achieve and retain its status as one of the world’s highest ranking business schools.

Since 2005, Scott Mead has worked on behalf of Cambridge University’s 800th campaign. As a campaign board member, Mead and his colleagues work together to define and achieve the university’s objectives in relation its 800th anniversary. Scott Mead is also a charter trustee at his alma mater, Phillips Academy. As an alumnus of one of the United States’ oldest and most prestigious secondary schools, Scott Mead has been involved since 2002, including assuming roles of Audit Committee chairman and Trustee Finance Committee member. As such, he helps oversee one of the largest endowments of any secondary school in the world, the income from which has allowed the school to pursue an essentially “need blind” admissions policy.

Mead has also worked on behalf of Harvard University, as part of a team that analyzed and evaluated the university’s strategic and financial position. He is also a founding investor of Notting Hill Preparatory School in London. This school, which opened in 2003, works on developing the individual talent of each student and maximizing their potential through high level training.

Other Community Service

In addition to his activities on behalf of educational institutions, Scott Mead has several other philanthropy pursuits that benefit society at large.

Scott Mead sits on the board of the New Look Foundation, an organization created by Usher Raymond IV to inspire youth to initiate positive growth in their lives and in their communities. Through different workshops taking place locally and abroad, the foundation empowers youth with the tools and resources they need to succeed both in their own communities as well as the international arena. The courses offered motivate and inspire the youth while also providing a positive backdrop for interacting with other teens, as well as local and international leaders and business professionals.

For nearly ten years, he has served at Great Ormond Street Hospital, both as an associate non-executive director of the Hospital’s Trust Board, and as a Vice-Chairman of its Redevelopment Board. He has also been a member of MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Board of Visitors, an elected position he assumed in 2004.

For the last fourteen years, Scott Mead has served as founder and chairman of the foundation that bears his family name: The Mead Family Foundation. The foundation offers grants and donations to support educational projects, the arts, and medical research around the world. He is on the executive committee of the Tate Foundation in the UK, which oversees the endowments and the developments of various museums located in the United Kingdom. He is on the global advisory council of professional women’s tennis, served for 2 years as chairman of the Trustees at Queen’s Club in London, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Personal Life and Hobbies

Scott Mead was born in Washington DC in the US but currently resides in London, UK. His hobbies include collecting art, traveling and participating in various sports, including running marathons, which he does internationally for charitable purposes. Scott Mead is also an accomplished fine-art photographer, and recently exhibited his work in a solo exhibition for charity.
